A Click ID must be passed from the click-through URL to the landing page of the creative. Click IDs are then picked up directly via Dot Pixel or captured and sent back to Yahoo via Conversion API (CAPI).
Click ID is passed directly to the landing page or via 3rd party redirects including ad servers through any of the following ways.
Click ID with no redirect
In the instance that there is no re-direct of the creative, Click ID is present on the landing page and eligible for attribution with Dot Pixel. Send Click ID to Yahoo DSP via the Conversion API.
Click ID with 3rd Party re-direct
Advertisers who redirect a creative to a landing page must ensure Click ID is passed through using the click through or impression url tracking methods to the end landing page.
For those leveraging a custom url structure for tracking, ensure the click-through and destination URL have the Click ID structured correctly.
Add the combination of the parameter and macro: vmcid=${CC}
Below is an example of a click-through URL with the Yahoo click ID included assuming semicolon delimiters.
Note that this may vary with each third-party platform:
https://my.tracker.com//trackclk/account123;campaign123;vmcid=${CC}The ${CC} macro will expand into a value that represents the Click ID for that event in the Yahoo ad platform, and is passed when the user clicks on an ad. The vmcid parameter and expanded click ID value then need to be passed to the landing page URL, where it will be stored in the Yahoo Dot tag placed on the landing page of the Advertiser website.
Click ID via 3rd Party Ad Server Integrations
Third party Ad Servers rely on different implementations to properly pass ClickID to the landing page for attribution. Please follow the specific instructions based on the ad server of choice.
